All such services are part of a multi-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation. Our therapists work closely with the nursing staff, nutritionists and physicians to ensure maximum benefit for each patient.
Who can benefit from these therapy services? People of all ages. Anyone with illness or injury that interferes with their performance of purposeful activities or daily living can benefit. Typical conditions that we treat include post-surgical rehabilitation, joint pain, stroke, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, general weakness, back and neck pain, sports injuries and work-related injuries. We are leaders in rehabilitative services in the area. Our professional staff will be glad to answer your questions and we invite you and your family to visit our facility.
Physical Therapy focuses on enhancing or restoring mobility that has been lost due to trauma, pain, disease, neurological and/or muscular disorders, developmental delays or congenital deformity. Following initial evaluation, individualized treatment plans are designed by licensed therapists who use exercise, assistive devices and special techniques to encourage independence. Therapists also employ modalities during treatment, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ice, heat and traction. The objective is to help each patient meet their rehabilitative goals quickly and safely, with education to prevent future injury or functional decline. Therapists also develop extensive home programs that allow patients to maintain gains made in therapy.
Occupational Therapy places emphasis on mastering task-oriented skills that are normally performed at home, such as bathing, dressing and feeding. The department features a fully equipped "home", providing patients with valuable hands-on practice. Therapy goals are centered around helping patients achieve their maximum level of independence, allowing them to take care of themselves at home as well as function on the job. We also address the problems encountered by the aging and help the elderly remain physically and mentally active.
Speech Therapy assists patients in developing communication skills needed to enhance their daily living. The goal is to improve auditory comprehension, gestural language, verbal expression, motor speech, perceptual skills, verbal reasoning, memory, concentration and swallowing disorders.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation / Respiratory Therapy is for persons with chronic lung diseases including but not limited to emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, and interstitial lung disease, as well as lung reduction. Pulmonary programs include medical management, education, exercise and breathing retraining.
Nutritional Services, in addition to serving meals each day to our patients, employees and residents, this department provides a variety of nutritional counseling services, including diabetic teaching.
Social Services staff helps patients and their families deal with emotional, financial and social stress that accompanies illness and hospitalization. This may include talking with family members and patients about services available in the community, or working to ensure that appropriate plans and services are available at the time of discharge.
